The Steepwater Band - Clava

The Steepwater Band is the Chicago-based, blues-seeping, overdriven, psychedelic and low-down dirty trio that recently released their hard hitting album, Clava. The album, who’s name is a reference to both a trinity of stars and the studio of the album’s recording, is a broad spectrum of highly energetic, largely blues-based rock n roll in an overdriven, in your face shell of classic rock.

“Love Never Ends” is an infectious rock number that at times has a Stones feel, and at others sports the more skilled side of classic 80s rock. There’s a cool, throwback U.K. rock sound to “Bury My Burden Deep”, but as is par for the course, Steepwater ratchets it up with some hard guitar and punished amps. “High and Humble” pushes the boundaries of what great rock sounds like.

Clava is stripped down, gritty rock n’ roll at it’s most genuine. With a combination of hard rock and blues, the guitar licks scream and the vocals are straight out of vintage rock. Taking up cues from the best that music has had to offer in the last seventy years, The Steepwater Band assembles a mighty display of rock prowess with Clava.
